LandShift (Community-Led Creation of Living Spaces in Shifting Landscapes for Climate-Resilient Land Use Management and Supporting the New European Bauhaus) is a pioneering European initiative dedicated to transforming land-use management by integrating cutting-edge technologies, community-driven solutions, multi-stakeholder collaboration, and sustainable environmental practices. The project addresses urgent challenges such as climate change, land degradation, biodiversity loss, and unsustainable land use by developing data-driven strategies.
By leveraging Earth Observation (EO) services, Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA), LandShift enables policy-makers, land managers and regional authorities to implement adaptive, climate-resilient strategies that respond to evolving environmental and socio-economic conditions.
Through Nature-Based Solutions (NBS) aligned with the New European Bauhaus (NEB) principles, the project provides stakeholders with practical tools to facilitate sustainable land-use transitions. This will enable informed decision-making that harmonizes climate action, biodiversity conservation, and food production objectives.
LandShift will operate across five Living Spaces (LSs) in France, Greece, Italy, Poland, and Ukraine, demonstrating how land can be used efficiently, ecosystems restored and preserved, and communities made more resilient to climate change.
HSG contributes as a key Social Science and Humanities (SSH) partner, leading efforts in socio-economic impact assessment, stakeholder engagement, training, and outreach activities. HSG also leads efforts in educational activities, and promoting equity, ensuring that LandShift’s fosters inclusive and sustainable governance models.
